BOC-3 : Stands for BLANKET OF COVERAGE ! THIS IS WHERE THE Trucking Company designates A process agent (s) that represent them in EVERY STATE their trucks haul freight. The designated process agent will accept court papers from the state on behalf of the trucking company should there ever be a legal issues. Who needs a BOC3? Motor Carriers, Freight Forwarders, and Brokers. They must have a BOC3 on file with FMCSA to secure their operating authority and maintain an Active Operating status. This is a one time fee. It never expires.
